L'affichage d'un point de trace et de ses infos associées en mode preview est possible, mais uniquement dans les cas où un tel point est suceptible d'être utilisé dans la modification de la trace.
A savoir : ajout de waypoint sur trace , suppression d'un point de trace et coupure de trace .
Il n'y a pas, actuellement, d'autre méthode pour afficher les informations concernant un point de trace en mode preview, la seule alternative est d'y créer un waypoint avec , le waypoint résultant étant une copie conforme du point de trace concerné, contenant toutes les informations y étant rattachées.

Hello, nice tool.
This is, what I was looking for.
Just a few ideas to improve it:
- Giving the option to show arrows in the map/grahic, that u know in witch direction you made the track.
- If the track has altitude data it would be easy to make another window, where the altitude profile of the track is shown.

May be, you can implemet it on your next version, if you still work on it. This would be nice.

I'll look if I can use this library, but I doubt it.
Only one waypoint is not enough to get a bounding box for Google map, and therefore setting a zoom level. I'll try to add a default zoom level for such cases.
Getting altitude for a lot of points needs even more requests to GeoName, which provides this data freely. I will look if it's possible to get all the data at once, but no promises on that one.

Thanks for this nice program. I don't use all the functionality. I just wanted to see the the different slopes in G.Maps, I snowboarded last week :-)

If there are more people using it like me, it would be helpfull if the program showed the tracks in different colors.

GPXeditor rocks! A couple of small cosmetic things though:

The confirmation box for deleting part of the track displays the question in English, but the buttons in French - no big issue - but should be simple to fix.

Settings, Preview pane - right "clic" (should be "click") selects

The context-sensitive balloon help on "Cut selected track segment" is Maj+Ctrl+... rather than Shift+Ctrl+... (Same applies to the "box" button menu)

A feature request if possible - would it be possible to retain the altitude profile of the track when the "Google maps" panel is selected (or the option to allow a "faded" map to be displayed behind the "preview" or "track & route" panels?

1) This confirmation dialog uses a compiler-generated dialog, which is in French. The only way to change that (that I know) is to create the dialog manually. I'll look for an alternative.

4) Well, it still is displayed when Google Map is selected, but it's not connected with it, so the movements on Google map do not update the altitude profile and vice-versa. For the faded Google map behind the preview panes, it's not possible at the moment because I use a different projection algorithm than Google Maps, and the two maps (mine's and Google's) wouldn't overlay at all. My projection is simple, fast and accurate enough for viewing. Google uses a Mercator projection, which is much slower to compute (they don't care, they store the terrabytes of image result) and has different aspect ratio depending on the distance from the poles.

Anyway, thank you very much for your feedback, it's thanks to them that I can make GPX Editor a better software.

No issues on whose map is used as the "behind" map - it could be OpenStreetMap just as easily (or any other map of your choice) - and if people complain that there's not the detail in OSM then they can update OSM on the way :)

- avoir un affichage des coordonnées en Lambert II étendu et Lambert 93
- avoir la possibilité de copier, ou d'exporter ces coordonnées vers un format texte.

Malheureusement, convertir des coordonnées WGS84 en projection Lambert est aussi amusant que de se tirer une balle dans le pied, je dirais donc que ce n'est pas à l'ordre du jour.
Pour ce qui est de l'export texte, le GPX est déjà un format texte, j'en déduis donc que tu souhaiterais une sortie de type csv, mais là il y a une centaine de formats possibles, lequel choisir ? Comment ditinguer waypoint, trace, route, segment de route, etc ... ?
C'est tout à fait possible, le vrai problème est celui de la mise en forme de ces données.

En effet Entre le réglage 1 et 2 je perds beaucoup de points, et c'est dommage, mon GPS qui en prend 750 n'en utilise que 474.

Sachant que la précision maximale d'un GPS + DGPS et d'environ 5 mètres tout filtrage avec des limites inférieures n'a pas d'interet. Si le filtre supprime "trop" de point, c'est bien que ces points n'étaient pas significatifs au départ.

Il faut sélectionner une route ou un segment de trace qui comprend des données d'altitude (avec un clic-droit à proximité). Bien sur l'altitude ne peut être affichée que si elle est présente dans le fichier GPX d'origine.

In version 1.2.05 it seems that Delete point(s) with value(s) below and above don't work correct - Delete point(s) with value(s) below actually deletes points with value above and vice versa.

I mention also Oui and Non instead Yes and No in Are you sure you want to delete the selected item dialog.

It is a fantastic program. Exactly what I need. Congratulations!
I would like to have one more function: elevation correction.
It is very easy to implement, just add a number to all <ele> elements. Now I have to do it in my own program, but I would like to do that in your program.
It happens when I forget to calibrate my GarminEtrex vista hcx altimeter. The elevation is then completely incorrect. But is very easy to correct that.

This is a very useful tool you have created. I use it exclusively for "Tracks" modification. The three features I favor are:

1. Track length modification (cutting off excessive front/end of tracks)
2. Elevation profile

I am curious though... I originally found this project through SourceForge ("http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpx..." and "http://gpxeditor.sourceforge.net/"). It appears that you are no longer updating the project page and file downloads on SourceForge anymore. Any reason why? If you still wish to no longer update the SourceForge page, I would strongly suggest placing a link to "http://www.knackes.com" (or updating the project 'www' address on the project page) so others can find the newer and improved versions.

Thank you very much Walker, I included the Russian translation in the 1.2.20 release.
I also added the elevation shift, to compensate non-calibrated altimeter.
It also can "anonymize" timestamps, without loosing duration nor speed.

Keneth : thank you for your interest, I don't update Sourceforge anymore because it takes to much time to make it nicely and in a professional way. SourceForge is the perfect place for such projects, but I don't have much time for the constant monitoring of the project page and the answers I would got there. I'll update the project page as soon as possible.

Great software!

Can benefit from a few little enhancement like supporting standard keyboard shortcut (like copy/paste, ...).

Also I'm tracking my flight with a GPS and partition the resulting GPX but I can not exploit some of the data because everything is displayed in meters, km/h ... where I would need knots and feet! So if there is a wish list somewhere, I would love to see those put on it! :-)
In the wish list, I would also like to see the bottom graph having the option to have a fix scale or being able to display the scale of the x axis. The need here is because it would allow to compare the same path runned several times...

Pixel_K, I use GPX Editor for a while now - thaks a lot, it's very helpful :-)

@Jordigps/64bit: On Win7 64bit, I sometimes get the same error, but the application does not crash but stays usable. It happens when changing between tabs.

Some bugs I observed:
* mayor: the GUI offers several fields for editing, but entered values are not saved correctly to GPX or not loaded again, e.g. URL for a track
* medium: go to tab "google map", click "route" icon, click some route in map, click "route" icon again and you're in preview tab
* medium: It writes line breaks, but is unable to read them again (e.g. in CMT, DESC fields of WPTs). CR/LF would be nice for a WPT collection maintained over longer time.
* medium: click on track, tracksegment, tab point list, click a point. It gets selected, in element tree, nothing is selected. Hit DEL key. Now you're asked whether you wanna delete the selected entry, yes -- now, the tracksegment insteadt of the point is deleted.
* minor: It silently removes XML comments, so e.g. <!-- cmt -->

1) Saving Track URL "It works for me", I select the track, click the middle button (mouswheel) add or change the url, click ok, save or save as and when I reopen the gpx the url is there.
2) Jumping to preview after Google Map track creation "It's not a bug it's a feature" but I conceive it can be counter-intuitive. I'll try to add an option to change this behaviour
3) I can't remember why I transform CR/LFs to spaces, I'll look into it
4) There's no way to delete a point in the point list tab right now, so this actions are not interpreted like you logicaly thought i would be. I'll try to add this feature
5) XML comment are ignored at read time, as all unknown XML tags or non-standard GPX tags, because I can't be sure of their syntax. The way I store the GPX data tree right now is incompatible with a "put-anywhere" tag, So I don't think I can add this any time soon, sorry.

For 4, it's also OK for me not to select the trackpoint & not to unselect the track in the tree view (=I see what's about to be deleted) or to disable DEL key when a track point was selected - just avoid unintended data loss ;-)

2 & 4 are now fixed (version 1.2.28), I also changed a bit the delete object message, to at least know what you're going to delete.
Bad news about 3 : it's the default behaviour of the XML toolkit I use (xmlpartner). There is a switch in it's source, but it's not documented and does not seem to work. The CR/LF's are transformed into spaces at read time.

Pixel_K, thank you for the quick fixing :-) 2 & 4 are fine now. @3: There are several libaries with that name, so I don't know where to place a bug report / RFE -- could you please do?

I observed several minor issues in the translation, e.g. a mix of English, French and German. Using Poedit I fixed them in default.po and uploaded it at http://rapidshare.com/files/3514250... Only for 2 terms I was unsure in what context they appear so I did not dare to translate them. Moreover, there are 2 things needing a fix that I did not find in the po-file, namely buttons yes/no and plural of segment/point, see http://yfrog.com/b8gpxeditor1p

SourceForge is the home of the package. It was a commercial product made by TurboPower that they made open-source (If I understood everything). It's highly unlikely that we can have any support for this tool-kit.
The "Oui/Non" buttons came directly from the language used in the compiler, and I have (so far) no way of changing this easily.
I did the pural wrong in the the log panel. I'll try to fix this for the next release. If you spot any other problem, I'm very interested..

"Value from the bottom pane" is used in the settings/SatusBar/Value checkbor hint

"Downloading" Apears in a -not yet- used dialog, you don't need to translate it so far

1) Saving gpx/tracks after applying filters..
I can not figure out how to save the modified track after applying on of the track filters, such as, 3D Douglas-Peucker difference. I apply the filter but when I 'Save As' the original track is saved.

2) Reduce Scatter based on speed filter
Get error: Division par zero en virgule flottante
After this happens once, the error message keeps appearing no matter what i click on

3) Selecting track - then right click on ''Filter Track Points' -- all options are disabled in window.

This is a useful tool. Thanks for your efforts.

1) It works fine here. You didn't forget to push the Apply button, did you ?
2) You will have such error if your track has no time data (as computing speed relies on point's timestamp obviously) or if two consecutive points have the same time. I'll add a test to avoid calculation when it's no possible.
3) It's disabled because your track hasn't any of the data the filter can use

As for 1) above, I can not see an 'Apply' button anywhere on the window -- and I looked all over.

This is what I do...
Load a track
Select the track (click on it after expanding the GPX-tree)
Select the 'Track and route edition' tab
Select the '3D Douglas-Peucker difference'
I can see the modified track on the Right pane (in black)

Now, this is where I have the problem. I do not see an 'Apply' button -- and I looked everywhere.

Can you tell me where the 'Apply' button should show up at?

I am really sorry to hear that the line breaks (newline chars) being converted to spaces problem can't be fixed. This is a real deal breaker do me :(
This program would be perfect for me for managing POIs but I can't live without the possibility to put some structure into the description texts (they tend to get lengthy).

Bonjour et tout d'abord merci pour ce programme.
Le problème c'est que je pensais qu'on pouvait importer une route ou un tracé, modifier la position des waypoints en les déplaçant sur la carte Google (map ou satellite) puis sauvegarder le nouveau fichier gpx pour après le charger dans mon Garmin.
Mais je ne peux rien modifier.
Je crois que je n'ai rien compris... ;o)

Il est en effet impossible de déplacer tout les points d'une trace. Cependant une telle manipulation ne me semble de toute façon pas judicieuse. Les cartes Google map sont loin d'être calibrées correctement pour l'ensemble du globe, et se baser dessus pour modifier des données GPS est une mauvaise idée : ce n'est pas parce qu'une trace ne colle pas à une image Google map qu'elle est fausse, bien au contraire. Ensuite, si c'est pour uploader sur un GPS Garmin, il vaux mieux utiliser des routes (ce qui est faisable dans l'onglet Google map). Ce sera beaucoup plus léger pour le GPS car il est conçu pour suivre les routes, pas les traces.

D'abord bravo et génial. Je ne m'en passe plus! Mais je crains que je sois un vrai boulet! J'ai essayé de chercher sur tous les commentaires mais je n'ai pas trouvé comment "merger" deux parties de chemin en un seul. Je m'explique : j'ai un datalogger un peu capricieux qui me crée plein de chemin discontinus. J'ai compris que l'on pouvait déplacer une partie de chemin d'un chemin à un autre mais cela ne supprime pas la discontinuité. Merci de votre aide

C'est ma faute, il faut vraiment que je trouve du temps pour écrire une documentation digne de ce nom. L'interface est relativement riche et, sans explication, on peut très bien passer à coté de plein de fonctionnalité.

[Clic droit] sur la trace dont on veux rassembler les segments :

(Je conseille de les trier par date auparavant si ce n'est pas déjà le cas)

This does show on an old Windows 2000 PC I have, but other PCs with Windows XP and Windows 7 does not show it. Windows 7 compatibility mode - Win2000 - does not fix the problem. I have tried a variety of screen resolutions/dpi, but the problem remains.
This is a great shame as the ability to automatically reduce the number of points is fantastic. Any progress on a fix?

Gpx Editor (version 1.2.32.1181) est un super logiciel pour corriger les fichiers, créer des traces, afficher, etc...
avec lequel je travaille énormément pour mes randonnées.

Par contre, je n'arrive pas à affecter une couleur différente à chacune des traces affichées à l'écran, ce qui rend la reconnaissance plus compliquée sur la carte.
Est-ce que c'est une fonctionnalité qui existe ?

Mais ce que je regrette le plus, c'est qu'il n'y ai pas la possibilité d'afficher les traces sur des fonds de cartes IGN à la place de Google Maps.

Pourquoi n'y a t-il pas la possibilité de choisir l'affichage des traces sur Google Maps ou sur carte Ign ?
En effet, étant habitué à la représentation et détails portés sur les cartes bleue Ign au 1/25 000ème, comme probablement bon nombre de randonneur, ceci serait une fonctionnalité bien appréciable.
Est-ce que cette fonctionnalité fait partie des futurs développements envisagés pour le logiciel Gpx Editor ?

This comes from the fact that you use an uncommon font dpi (not 96 dpi). The apply button is displayed outside of the visible window because of this setting.
The next stable version of GPX Editor will have a work-around for this problem (I don't know yet when it will be available - a beta release is available on Gpspassions'forum).

Pour la couleur, c'est un peu compliqué, mais c'est faisable :
Tout d'abord il faut activer le style GPX dans les options

C'est une extension officielle du format GPX, mais peu connue, je n'ai jamais eut de problème de compatibilité, mais on ne sait jamais, c'est pour celà que cette option est désactivée par défaut.
Fermer et rouvrir GPX Editor (pour rendre effectif ces préférences).
Ensuite, dans les propriétés de la trace (clic sur le bouton du milieu) on peux changer sa couleur dans l'onglet GPX Style en cliquant sur le bouton de couleur

Pour utiliser ces couleurs dans l'aperçu Google Map, il faut encore changer une autre option

La transparence est visible en mode Google Map, pas en mode prévisualisation, c'est normal.

Pour ce qui est des fonds de cartes IGN, l'API Geoportail qui permettrait de les afficher n'est toujours pas au même niveau de fonctionnalité que Google Map, je n'ai donc pas de solution utilisable pour le moment.

Mon tracker me fait quelques erreurs (surtout quand je suis en forêt). J'aimerais déplacer quelques points tout en les visualisant sur la carte Google qui m'aide à m'y retrouver. Je n'ai pas trouvé comme sur Google, la possibilité de selectionner un point puis de le déplacer. Le seul moyen que j'ai est de faire un export en KMZ, de travailler sur Google. N'aurais-je pas compris quelque chose?

Windows 7 font size was 125% - changing it to 100% or 150% made the "Apply" button visible.

I have looked at the latest Beta version. I hope you will retain the "Remove points with an angle less than..." as I found this an extremely useful tool to smooth out GPS "wobbles" and delete redundant points.

Ce n'est pas possible, et ce pour de (bonnes) raisons. La projection des images GoogleMap est loin d'être parfaite et, de plus, de qualité variable. En cherchant à "coller" à une Image GoogleMap on a de forte chances d'être moins juste qu'avec la trace d'origine.
Ensuite, le déplacement des coordonnées d'un point ne prennent pas en compte les autres informations liées à ce points (temps, altitude, précision, etc...). On se retrouve alors avec des vitesses aberrantes, des altitudes impossibles et parfois pire encore.
La meilleure manière de corriger une mesure erronée, c'est de la supprimer.

Je découvre votre logiciel il me semble très bien fait.
Par contre il ne me semble pas avoir trouvé la fonction suivante: la possibilité de changer le type d'un point càd transformer un waypoint en routepoint ou encore trackpoint.
Cela me serait extrêmement utile pour préparer mes itinéraire pour mon GPS velo de marque Garmin.

ce n'est pas prévu de base, mais on peut réaliser cette opération manuellement. On peut créer une route en mode Google Map en cliquant sur les waypoints successifs après avoir cliqué sur et valider en cliquant une nouvelle fois sur à la fin de la route. Elle s'ajoutera à la liste des routes.

En fait mon besoin est le suivant:
Je crée des routes avec le logiciel cartographique Géorando de l'IGN. ce fichier génère des routes au format .gpx qui sont une succession de point de type waypoint.
Or j'aimerais transformer certains de ces points (à l'intersection des routes) en point de type routepoint.
La raison en est la suivante: j'utilise un gps velo garmin edge 705 qui distingue les deux types de points: ils affiche les waypoints à l'ecran et signale un ecart par rapport au tracé et, en plus, à l'approche d'un point de type routepoint affiche un message personnalisable de type "à la prochaine intersection tournez à droite" (défini manuellement par l'utilisateur)
Malheureusement le logiciel de l'IGN ne permet pas de spécifier si le point que l'on crée un un waypoint ou un routepoint, je cherchais donc une solution comme votre logiciel qui permettrait de retoucher le fichier .gpx en transformant quelques waypoints en routepoints.

En fait maintenant il ne me manque plus que la faculté de pouvoir vérifier sur l'onglet Google Map quel routepoint j'ai selectionne. Parce que mon travail va maintenant consister à supprimer manuellement une part importante de ces routepoints, probablement les deux tiers, en ne retenant que ceux ou je souhaite que mon GPS m'avertisse de quelque chose (changement de direction essentiellement)
J'imagine que faire le lien entre l'onglet "liste des points" et l'onglet "Google Maps" est techniquement compliqué ?? Peut-être qu'une solution intermediaire serait de récupérer le .jpg généré dans l'onglet Gmaps pour l'utiliser dans l'onglet Prévisualisation ???
Si je me prenais à rêver, j'imaginerais ensuite un rapatriement du nom de la commune pour chaque point à partir d'un web service de geocodage comme google maps, exactement de la même manière que vous le faites déja pour l'altitude.
En effet sur un velo de route, pouvoir afficher le nom de la commune vers laquelle on se dirige est utile: cela permet de se servir des panneaux routiers.

Désolé, je suis en train d'écrire ma lettre au père Noel et n'ai aucune idée si vous avez le temps et l'envie de faire ça. Si ce n'est pas le cas ignorez simplement mon message.

Bonjour, j'ai vu que tu essayais de mettre en œuvre l'API GeoPortail pour laquelle je je ne peux malheureusement pas t'aider. Envisages tu par hasard de proposer également une interface OpenStreetMap ?

Tu connais surement le principe, une sorte de "Wikipedia" adapté au monde de la cartographie, tous les jours plus complet et plus à jour au fur et à mesure que le nombre de contributeurs augmente. Moi je me sers beaucoup de GPX Editor pour adapter les traces avant mise en ligne. Je n'ai pas connaissance de l'API de OSM mais les wikis détaillent ca et je crois que c'est assez trivial avec un peu partout des exemples à récupérer.
En te remerciant pour cet outil compact et efficace

Je contribue à OSM depuis plusieurs années. GPX Editor utilise les couches OSM depuis fort longtemps aussi. Il en est même fait mention aux alentours du commentaire n°20.

Ah, super, ca m'avait échappé désolé. Je vais étudier ca. Heureux de savoir que tu es contributeur également d'OSM. Moi c'est plus récent mais j'essaye de compléter ma région qui est assez pauvrement couverte pour ce qui est des routes mineures :( Il reste du travail à faire ! :)
